Salary: in the region of £70,000-£80,000 per annum, depending upon experience

Pinewood School is a thriving co-educational independent day and boarding school for over 400 pupils aged 3 to 13. Established in 1875, the School is set in 84 acres of rolling countryside near the village of Bourton, on the border between Wiltshire and Oxfordshire, The School is widely regarded as one of the country’s top Prep Schools with pupil numbers remaining consistently high and the strong financial position of the School allowing for on-going development and improvement projects. 

The Headmaster and Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and business minded individual to the position of Bursar and Clerk to the Council. Reporting to the Headmaster the Bursar is a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team and plays a vital role in the School’s strategic planning. He/she is also responsible to the Chair of Governors in their role as Clerk to the Council. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the continued success and development of this leading independent school.  

The role of Bursar is the most senior non-teaching post within the School and oversees the operational and strategic management of all non-teaching departments including finance, estates, IT, HR, domestic and catering. The Bursar will benefit from the support of a well-established and high-performing support team and will bring outstanding experience of people and project management, along with an ability to build highly effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with strong financial acumen and robust commercial judgement will be essential.  

Previous experience of working in a school is not required but candidates must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in education
