Berkshire

An exciting opportunity to shape strategy, develop facilities and ensure the operational and financial success of this growing school.

Located in Wokingham, Berkshire, Luckley House is a thriving co-educational, independent day and boarding school for 375 pupils aged 11 to 18 years. Set in 20 acres of beautiful leafy grounds, Luckley House is a warm and welcoming school providing a Christian education characterised by academic excellence, a rich and diverse range of opportunity, aspiration and enthusiasm for life and generosity of spirit.

The Headmistress and Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and commercially minded Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) with the skill set to shape strategy and deliver operational functions effectively. The DFO will lead a diverse team of support staff, ensuring effective and efficient functional delivery whilst driving continuous improvement in financial, estate and operational performance. Areas of responsibility will include finance, buildings and facilities, health and safety, risk management, catering, transport, legal and commercial activities. The DFO is also Clerk to the Governors.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful business leadership and will be a strategic thinker with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.  Exceptional financial acumen and robust commercial judgement will be essential, as will an ability to establish highly effective, collaborative working relationships with the Headmistress, Governors and colleagues at all levels. Prior experience in the education sector is not essential and applications are welcomed from candidates with commercial, charitable and private-sector backgrounds.
