Manchester High School for Girls is one of the leading independent girls' day schools in the country.

Situated in the Fallowfield area of Manchester, it is a selective, academic, 4–18 school for almost 1000 pupils. For 147 years, Manchester High School for Girls has taken pride in giving girls an academic education of the highest quality. Founded in 1874, the School has made a pioneering contribution to the development of women’s education and has a long and proud history of educating women who have gone on to change the world.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Finance and Operations to support the new Head Mistress in developing and implementing her ambitious plans for Manchester High. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, proactive and dynamic individual to join the Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in the ongoing strategic development of the School.

Reporting to the Head Mistress, the Director of Finance and Operations will provide leadership to a diverse team of support staff and ensure the successful management of the day-to-day non-teaching and commercial operations of the School.

The successful candidate will be an individual of proven senior leadership ability, a strategic thinker and able to establish highly effective, collaborative working relationships with Governors and colleagues at all levels. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional financial acumen and robust commercial judgement will be essential.

Candidates will have a genuine interest in and empathy for education, but prior school bursar experience is not a requirement.
