The Governors of City Junior School are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate as the new Head.

Required for September 2025/January 2026

The School is a high-profile, thriving, academically selective co-educational day School for children aged 7-11, located in the heart of the City, in Gray’s Inn. Established in 2022, the School benefits from its links to City of London School for Girls and City of London School where pupils transition without 11+ examination at the end of Year 6.  City Junior School is owned by and established as part of the City of London Corporation, which supports the School and is responsible for the School’s governance.

City Junior School offers a rigorous and rounded education. The well-designed curriculum provides pupils with the opportunity to create, connect and collaborate both within and beyond the classroom. They are encouraged to ask questions, take risks and think creatively. Kindness and compassion are modelled and taught. The newly created school building includes modern, light-filled classrooms, with specialist teaching areas for a range of subjects.  Pupils have access to the fantastic facilities of both senior schools, such as their swimming pools and theatre spaces, whilst also benefiting from the glorious environment of Gray’s Inn, including access to the ‘Walks’ (large grassed areas) for play and the historic dining hall for lunch. Academic standards are high and so is the focus on wellbeing. The School’s values relate to community and citizenship; joy and wellbeing; and scholarship and discovery.

This exciting opportunity will suit candidates with outstanding communication and people skills, as well as the ability to manage change effectively, leading staff with energy and purpose. The successful candidate will have vision, resilience and gravitas.  They will need to establish trust and confidence demonstrating empathy and a warm, engaging personality.

Potential applicants who would like to find out more about this opportunity are invited to contact one of the RSAcademics team working on this project for an initial, confidential conversation:
