Head – Fettes College Preparatory School

Fettes College Preparatory School is a thriving co-educational boarding and day school of over 200 boys and girls.

The Governors of Fettes College are seeking to appoint a new Head to succeed Adam Edwards who will be leaving in July 2022 after nineteen years of highly successful leadership.

Fettes College Preparatory School has a deserved reputation for academic excellence alongside an exceptional co-curricular experience. Fettes Prep School has existed in its current form for nearly 25 years but there has been a junior school associated with Fettes College for many years prior to that.

The school, with its girls’ and boys’ boarding houses, is situated within a secluded part of Fettes College’s beautiful 100-acre campus on the north side of Edinburgh with easy access to both a vibrant capital city with its world class museums, galleries and cultural sites and the rolling Pentland Hills just a short drive away.

The pupils also benefit from unrivalled educational, sporting and co-curricular facilities shared with Fettes College and a rich programme of music and drama. Its nurturing approach to pastoral care ensures it is a happy and strong community.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an inspiring and highly-skilled educationalist to lead Fettes Prep. The successful candidate will have the strategic vision, drive and experience to build on the achievements of their predecessor and take the School into its next chapter while also preserving and staying true to its history and tradition. The new Head will inspire the staff, pupils and parents and enjoy working with them as a visible, accessible and collaborative leader.

Applications are warmly encouraged from experienced, successful Heads or Deputies, with energy and drive to lead Fettes into an exciting new chapter.

A highly competitive remuneration package, including family accommodation on site and generous fee remission for children, is available commensurate with the seniority of the post and the experience of the successful candidate.

Interested candidates are invited to contact RSAcademics by email or telephone, to arrange a confidential discussion with Louisa Barham, the Search Consultant handling this appointment, or Brodie Bibby, the Senior Advisor, or Angela Short, Head of Prep School Search.
