New maintained specialist school due to open in September 2023 – 16–19 Co-Ed (capacity 60, rising to 200 over 5 years)

For Summer Term 2022

This is a rare and extremely exciting opportunity for an outstanding and inspiring practitioner who is passionate about Mathematics and widening participation in STEM subjects among young people from diverse backgrounds.

The new Mathematics school will be opened (with an initial capacity of 60) in 2023 by the Frontier Learning Trust, a partnership formed between Imperial College London, a world top ten university and Woodhouse College, a national top five sixth form college. It will also be part of a growing national network of specialist 16-19 schools linked to top universities, all aiming to enrich Mathematics education and widen participation. The new Head Teacher will play a leading role in working with the Trustees and staff from Woodhouse College and Imperial College London to establish the school and the partnership’s outreach activities with primary and secondary schools across London and the south-east.

The Trustees of Frontier Learning Trust seek a well-qualified, outstanding and inspirational Mathematics teacher, a creative thinker with a pioneering spirit who also has:

  • Significant experience teaching high-attaining sixth-formers A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, as well as at Key Stage 4;
  • Experience with ‘super-curricular’ Mathematics education and outreach work;
  • Energy, drive, ambition and ability to work with all levels of stakeholders to turn vision into reality;
  • Demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and removing barriers to educational attainment;
  • Experience in supporting colleagues to develop their teaching;
  • Commitment to collaborative working with the national network of Mathematics schools;
  • A team player with emotional intelligence and resilience, personal warmth and humility, who is committed to learning and developing as a leader, as previous experience in senior leadership is not essential.

Frontier Learning Trust is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.  We encourage applications from black and minority ethnic groups which are currently underrepresented. Applications are welcome from both the maintained and independent school sectors.
