Following a rigorous recruitment process led by Simon Eliot and Isabel Patchett for RSAcademics, we are delighted that the governors have appointed Matthew Oakman as Headteacher from September 2023.

Matthew was educated at the Perse School in Cambridge and then went on to study History at Oxford University. Having taught at Bryanston School in Dorset for three years, he joined Wellington College in September 1998 as a teacher of History and Politics and since then has taken on a variety of different roles at the College, most recently as Senior Master.

Matthew is a trained ISI Inspector and is on the board of Tushinde Children’s Trust. He currently teaches IB History, leads on inspection, tutors in a boarding house and runs the 2nd XV Rugby and 2nd XI Cricket teams.

Commenting on his appointment, Matthew said: “I am delighted and thrilled to be the new Head of Saint Felix School. I have already been struck by the warmth of the community and the energy of the students. With its beautiful grounds and unique coastal and rural location, it is the ideal setting for students to prosper and I very much look forward to leading Saint Felix into the next exciting phase of its journey.”
