Andrew Rattue

Andy read English at Brasenose College, Oxford and has a Master’s degree and a PGCE from London University. He has enjoyed a distinguished career in educational leadership including 17 years as Head in three very different schools. After nine years as Deputy Head at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, his first headship was at RGS Worcester (a large 11-18 day school with two feeder preps) where he led the move to full co-education and a merger with the neighbouring all-girls’ school. He then became Head of King’s College, Madrid, a day and boarding school with attached nursery, primary, secondary and Sixth Form provision and more than 1500 pupils on roll. Andy’s most recent leadership role was Principal of St Clare’s, Oxford, the longest-established IB World School in England, which also offers a wide variety of other courses for teenagers and adults.
Andy has been a governor in both the independent and state sectors and was Chair of Governors of Oxfordshire Hospital School for a number of years. He is currently a governor of Cumnor CE Primary School. He has been Chair of the Boarding Schools Association and BAISIS (British Association of Independent Schools with International Students). He was also a Boarding Team Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
