Barbara Elliott

In 2020, Barbara Elliott stepped down from her 15 years as Headmistress of Channing School, in Highgate, north London. During her time as Head, Barbara led a £30million building programme and saw the school grow from 550 to 970, expanding the senior school and doubling the size of the prep school.

Prior to this, Barbara worked in the state sector and in further education, as well as enjoying many years in senior roles in GSA and HMC schools. These included Deputy Head and Acting Head at St Albans High School, and Head of Spanish at St Columba’s College. A Cambridge graduate (Modern and Medieval Languages), Barbara is a devoted hispanophile.

Barbara joined the team at RSAcademics in 2020 and has assisted a number of schools in the maintained and independent sectors with the appointment of their Heads and Deputy Heads.

Barbara was an ISI inspector for over ten years and was Chair of the London GSA region, as well as serving on various GSA committees.
