Lorna Stoddart

Fundraising Consultant

With over 25 years of fundraising experience, working ‘from the bottom up’ as a volunteer, community fundraiser, fundraising manager, director, and charity trustee, Lorna has learnt a considerable amount about people – what charities expect from donors and what they can expect in return. Her experience includes working as a House-to-House Manager at NCH Action for Children; as Fundraising Manager at Imperial Cancer Research Fund; as Director of Development and Membership at The National Trust for Scotland (for 9 years), and most recently, as Director of Development and of Winchester College Society at Winchester college for 14 years.  During her time at Winchester, she raised over £100m for bursary endowment, capital expenditure projects, and relieving the school’s central budget by fundraising for annual expenditure projects.

Lorna is a Director of the Cairngorm Mountain Trust; an Advisor to the Development Board of the Scottish Association of Marine Science; and a consultant to several independent schools. She was previously a trustee of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, a Director of the American Friends of Winchester College, a Director of the Hong Kong Friends of Winchester College, Trustee and then Chair of the Botanics Foundation, Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, and a Manager of the New Club, Edinburgh.  She is now a Director of the American Friends of the Botanics Foundation, a 501(c)3 tax exempt charity which she established on behalf of the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh.   

Lorna is a graduate of the University of Montreux, and she has a Diploma in fundraising management with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.  She is a British Association of Snowsport Instructors Level 3 ISIA Instructor, and her first paid employment was with the Escola d’Esqui, Andorra.
