2021 Dubai Governors training sessions
The training will comprise six online workshops, free of charge, comprising lectures given by experts from RSAcademics, guest speakers from Dubai schools and group discussions of case studies and exercises. Each workshop will run twice: on a Tuesday lunchtime and a Wednesday late afternoon.

Once registered, you will receive Zoom invitations to each of the six workshops during the course of 2021 (see dates below). Your contact details will only be used for inviting you to the workshops and sending you information relating to the workshops, such as reading materials and copies of slides, and will not be shared with other participants.

More about the workshops
The workshops have been designed, and will be delivered, by RSAcademics, with reference to “The Gift of Good Governance”, produced by our knowledge partner, the KHDA.
Each workshop will run twice to enable as many Governors as possible to attend:
- Tuesday 12.00 to 13.30
Wednesday 16.00 to 17.30
Session 1: Principles and Characteristics of Good Governance
Tuesday, 9th March and Wednesday, 10th March
Using The Gift of Good Governance as the foundation, this opening session will provide models, principles and examples of good governance for delegates to consider.
Session 2: Using Data
Tuesday, 30th March and Wednesday, 31st March
How Governors can use data as a key tool in their role to support, challenge and monitor school performance.
Session 3: Governance and the National Agenda in Dubai
Tuesday, 25th May and Wednesday, 26th May
How Governors can promote the National Agenda in their schools.
Session 4: Working with the Principal
Tuesday, 15th June and Wednesday, 16th June
How can Governors ensure they recruit the best Head and that the Head performs to their best?
Session 5: Self-review of Governance
Tuesday, September 21st and Wednesday, 22nd September
How self-review can help improve (participants will be encouraged to conduct a self-review exercise before this workshop, using a recommended approach).
Session 6: Smart Governance
Tuesday, November 2nd and Wednesday, 3rd November
How the right committee structures, communications, procedures and documentation can help make governance even more effective and efficient.
