The Governors and Headmaster of Colfe’s School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and ambitious individual for the role of Bursar and Clerk to the Governors
Colfe’s School is a thriving independent co-educational day school for over 1,160 pupils aged 3–18. Set in a tranquil area of Greenwich, Colfe’s is one of London’s oldest schools.
The Governors and Headmaster are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and ambitious individual to succeed Julie Lerbech on her appointment to the position of Director of Finance and Operations at Benenden School after 10 years’ distinguished service. The successful candidate will join the Senior Management Team of Colfe’s at an exciting time as the School seeks to continue its strong upward trajectory in terms of both academic performance and the development of the School estate.
Reporting to the Headmaster, the Bursar will provide leadership to a large and diverse business support team and ensure the successful management of the day to day non-educational operations of the School. The role holder will be a strategic thinker, academically and emotionally intelligent, with an entrepreneurial mind.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective senior leadership and will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The Bursar will play an integral role in developing the School’s vision, as well as implementing its strategy, working in partnership with the Headmaster, wider Senior Management Team and Governors. Exceptional financial acumen and robust commercial judgement will be essential.
Prior experience of working in a school is not a prerequisite and applications are encouraged from candidates with commercial, charitable, private-sector and public-sector backgrounds.
The post is available from July 2020, but the actual start date is flexible for the successful candidate.
