Chair of Governors – St Paul’s Cathedral School
The Governors of St Paul's Cathedral School seek to appoint an exceptional, independent Chair with the mission of supporting the School in its provision of an education that equips young people for life, not just for the next stage of their education.
St Paul’s Cathedral School today is a vibrant community serving boys and girls aged 4 to 13. With a unique location in the heart of the City of London and a history that can be traced back to the 12th Century, the School is closely linked with the Cathedral, which fosters the School’s work and identity. Situated within the grounds of Wren’s masterpiece, the School respects time-honoured educational traditions while never forgetting its place in the modern, progressive world.
There are currently just over 260 pupils, of whom about 30 are choristers. The School is a Christian community where the values of love, justice, tolerance, respect, honesty, service and trust are encouraged and practised to promote positive relationships throughout the School and where the safety and welfare of each child is of the utmost importance. The School has particular responsibility for the boarding accommodation, education and well-being of the Choristers of St Paul’s Cathedral Choir. Oversight of the delicate balance between choristers and day pupils makes the role of governance especially interesting and unique.
The Governors are extremely supportive of, and ambitious for, the School. The Chair of Governors has a critical role in fostering an environment where the Head and their team can deliver a broad and exciting education to young people. He/she will also be able to lead and champion the School’s ambitions whilst ensuring the smooth running of the School.
