Chair of Independent Schools Governing Body – The Foundation of the Schools of King Edward VI, Birmingham

The Foundation is seeking a new Chair to lead the Governing Body of its two Independent Schools (ISGB) - King Edward’s School for boys (KES), led by Chief Master, Dr Katy Ricks and King Edward’s VI High School for girls (KEHS), led by Principal, Kirsty von Malaisé.

This is an exciting time to take on this non-executive role as the city of Birmingham and the Schools emerge from the global pandemic, with the opportunity to work collaboratively with two exceptional, recently appointed Heads and a dynamic new CEO of the Foundation.

The Governors are seeking someone with the right blend of experience, authority and expertise to lead the good governance of these two Independent Schools in line with the Foundation’s mission: “To make Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK.”

The Chair of the ISGB is also a member of the Foundation Board.

Interested candidates are invited to contact Louisa Barham, Search Consultant at RSAcademics, for a confidential discussion:

Those whose interest is taken further will be invited initially to meet with Vicky Tuck, Senior Advisor for this position, and then with a small committee of current ISGB governors, led by the Vice Chair, Gill Ball. There will be an opportunity to meet with both the Chief Master, Dr Katy Ricks and the Principal, Kirsty von Malaisé as the process advances.

All this will be handled in confidence.

The Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be asked to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service for an Enhanced Disclosure.
