Head – Clifton High School
THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS HAS NOW PASSED.
RSAcademics are delighted to be assisting the Council of Governors at Clifton High School, Bristol, with the appointment of a new Head of School from September 2020, when Dr Alison Neill retires.
During her tenure as head, Dr Neill, working closely with governors and staff, has transformed Clifton High into a thriving co-educational, 3-18 school that offers a distinct Diamond Edge Model of education for approximately 600 children. Clifton High, in just twelve years, now stands as one of the top Diamond Edge Model schools in the UK.
From its inception, the School has always had a tradition of enterprise, high academic standards and a progressive outlook: a thoroughly ambitious and forward-thinking school where decisions are made in the best interests of the children.
Respected for their individuality, the pupils are engaged in their learning and encouraged to succeed academically taking themselves outside of their comfort zones. A mutual respect for others is central to daily school life and pupils recognise that they are privileged; there is an expectation that all will become leaders in some capacity and make a significant contribution to others in their future life.
Clifton High is renowned for its close family community. Parents are highly engaged, committed and loyal. They want the School to place their child’s emotional and personal development at the same level of importance as their academic achievements.
The School is located on the edge of Clifton Village, in a fourteen-acre site including a large communal lawn, several playgrounds, an outdoor multi-use games area and an indoor swimming pool. Off-site sports take place locally at Coombe Dingle, which is in shared ownership with Bristol University. The School’s finances are well-managed and its financial position is strong; there are designated funds for a significant expansion project.
The new Head of School will build on Dr Neill’s outstanding achievements to ensure the School’s continued position at the forefront of the highly competitive Bristol independent schools market.
