Head of Preparatory School – St Andrew’s School, Turi, Kenya

Turi, Kenya

THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS HAS NOW PASSED.

For September 2020

St Andrew’s School, Turi (IAPS) is one of the leading independent international schools in East Africa. Founded in 1933, the Christian, independent boarding school offers outstanding British Curriculum education to 620 boarding pupils aged 5 -18 years.

The School comprises two semi-autonomous schools: a Prep School of circa 250 pupils between the ages of 3 and 13 and a Senior School of circa 370 pupils between the ages of 13 and 18.

Both Schools are situated within a beautiful 450-acre estate in the highlands of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya. Situated between Nakuru and Kericho, some 200km northwest of Nairobi, the School lies at an altitude of 2,500 metres above sea level, favoured with an excellent climate. This exceptional School boasts excellent facilities, a breadth of opportunity, and a secure and safe environment, free from pollution and malaria.

Following the appointment of the present Head of the Prep School, Fergus Llewellyn, to Cumnor House School, Sussex, (commencing September 2020), the Governors now seek a dynamic and enthusiastic Head to build on these firm foundations. S/he will be an effective, sensitive leader, capable of innovation, with energy, resilience, and a strong sense of humour. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Director of St Andrew’s, Turi, for the overall success of the Prep School, providing both spiritual and educational leadership.

The Prep School Head will be expected to be a Christian whose faith is at the centre of his/her life and fully committed to the Christian ethos, educational philosophy and overall aims of the School. S/he will enable the School to fulfil its mission to develop self-disciplined, confident and compassionate individuals who live and lead with integrity through a well-rounded and outstanding education within a Christian community. The School prides itself on truly preparing children for their teenage and adult life, equipping them with the academic skills they will need to thrive, as well as nurturing and developing their individual qualities and talents.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an ambitious and forward-thinking candidate to join this unique community of exceptional people, within one of the world’s most stunning landscapes. This is a School that ‘seeks the highest’ in all areas of School life, confident in the understanding that a world- class education will give pupils the skills they will need to be leaders in the 21st Century.

A highly competitive remuneration and relocation package, including family accommodation on site and favourable school fees remission for children attending the School, is available commensurate with the seniority of the post and the experience of the successful candidate.
