Head – S. Anselm’s School
Set in the glorious Derbyshire Dales, this is a unique opportunity to lead this wonderful, traditional prep school through its next phase of growth and development.
Start date: January 2020
Competitive Salary, including accommodation
S. Anselm’s is a 3-16 IAPS, non-selective, day and boarding, coeducational school which recently expanded by extending the age range to 16 with the establishment of the College. Full boarding continues to be a focus up to age 13. There is a largely new and extremely supportive Board of Governors with ambitious plans. The School boasts a gifted and committed staff and excellent facilities. The School is at the centre of the beautiful town of Bakewell and prepares its pupils to go on to leading boarding schools all over the country whilst also providing the option to stay in the familiar environment to complete GCSEs.
The new Head will start from January 2020 but other timings are possible. As part of the package there is a newly refurbished house, suitable for a family.
The School aims to combine excellence in modern education and traditional values and offers both day school and family friendly boarding options. The School’s success lies in its emphasis on a wide and strong academic provision, tradition, manners and fun, coupled with its ability to get the best out of every child. Extra-curricular activities are endless and the happiness of the children is palpable.
The Governors are seeking a dynamic Head with innovative ideas to take the School forward into the next phase of its development. Energy, confidence and experience of independent schools are essential. The successful candidate will be open minded with strong strategic leadership skills and a firm commitment to teaching and learning, at both prep school and GCSE levels. The individual will possess the commercial and financial skills needed in the current climate of prep school education, will have strong managerial skills and be able to provide inspirational leadership for this traditional, yet forward thinking school.
