Head – The Yehudi Menuhin School
THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS HAS NOW PASSED.
The Governors are seeking an inspiring, engaging and collaborative leader who exudes a passion for music and can demonstrate total commitment to the aims, ethos and values of The Yehudi Menuhin School.
The Yehudi Menuhin School, located in Stoke D’Abernon, near Cobham in Surrey, is a co-educational, boarding, non-denominational specialist school for around 80 musically gifted pupils (strings, piano and guitar) aged from eight to nineteen years.
The School seeks to provide its students with a broad liberal education and is committed to creating public benefit through its outreach and public concerts programme. Whilst music is central to the curriculum, high achievement in academic disciplines is also encouraged and resourced. Many distinguished musicians teach at the School and the School has an extensive list of illustrious former pupils who have gone on to be involved in the international music profession.
The international reputation of the School attracts pupils from all over the world who find a happy atmosphere in a large musical family with a strong emphasis on personal responsibility, tolerance and a concern for the individual, all of which developed from the principles enunciated by Lord Menuhin when the School was established in 1963. Numbers have been increased over the years, but the maintenance of a community committed to excellence, collaborative behaviour and celebration of achievement requires the overall scale of the School to be kept modest.
The Governors are seeking an inspiring, engaging and collaborative leader who exudes a passion for music and can demonstrate total commitment to the aims, ethos and values of The Yehudi Menuhin School. Already in a senior leadership position and with experience of secondary and/or preparatory education, you will possess the strategic expertise, business acumen and the cultural sensitivity to lead a community of highly gifted staff and pupils and to develop a strategic vision for the future development of this world-renowned Music School. Some experience of boarding schools may be an advantage.
