Whether your school is completely new to fundraising or in the early stages of its development journey, we can help you create strong foundations

We offer practical, step-by-step advice to help you get started and ensure the right elements are in place to raise fundraising income and build a long-term culture of philanthropic giving.

We offer a wide range of services:

01.Start-up advice: the basics

How ready are you to fundraise? That’s the question behind our start-up work. We find out what you wish to fundraise for, assess your community and stakeholders, and audit your resources. As part of the process, we review your school development plan for the next five to ten years: success is dependent on being able to articulate the strategic importance of fundraising and on the quality or status of alumni relations.

Some schools prefer to receive a road map of next steps to work through independently, while others ask us to continue to guide them on their journey by:

  • Developing action-bound timelines to keep fundraising on track
  • Providing templates for development plans
  • Recruiting junior team members to set up a database and support alumni relations
  • Inducting or mentoring new staff
  • Carrying out preliminary surveys
  • Conducting initial discussions with your high-net-worth individuals
  • Devising and supporting gift solicitation strategies

In most schools, this process of putting the key elements in place lasts three to six months.

02.Regular, ongoing start-up support

We are happy to provide regular, ongoing support throughout the start-up phase – mentoring new staff, acting as an ongoing sounding board and providing practical and hands-on support when required.

How long it lasts is up to you; we are by your side for as long as you need us.

Sometimes we stand back after three to six months once the key elements are in place.

Sometimes we provide monthly support for 12 to 18 months and then gradually ease back once internal confidence levels are high.

We work closely with you to identify what is best for your individual circumstances.

"RSAcademics' long-standing experience in philanthropy, common sense approach and the credibility they establish with senior leaders from the beginning, were among the factors that led us to choosing this consultancy."
