Martin Collier

Martin is a Senior Advisor in the Appointments team at RSAcademics, supporting schools in the UK and internationally to appoint Heads and senior leaders. He brings deep insight from his extensive leadership career and a highly skilled approach to guiding governing bodies through each stage of the recruitment process. 

Since joining RSAcademics, Martin has advised on a wide range of senior appointments, helping boards define leadership needs, assess candidates rigorously and make confident, values-aligned decisions. His experience enables him to balance strategic clarity with care for clients and candidates throughout the process. 

Martin previously served as Master of Haileybury, where he worked closely with international partner schools and Haileybury Turnford, its academy partner. Before that, he was Headmaster of St John’s School Leatherhead and held senior roles at Oundle School, including Second Master. He began his career in the state sector, giving him a broad perspective on school leadership. 

He has chaired HMC’s Academic Policy Sub-Committee and currently serves as a governor of three HMC schools. His governance experience spans both independent and academy sectors, in the UK and overseas.
