We are pleased to be collaborating with MSB on a research project exploring leadership transition in international schools. The aim of the study is to develop a clearer understanding of how leadership transitions are experienced across the sector and what practices appear to support stability and successful leadership over time.

Over the past several months we have been speaking with Heads, senior leaders, board members and sector advisers across the international school community to explore how leadership transitions unfold in practice. Those conversations have highlighted a number of recurring themes around governance relationships, expectations in the first year of leadership, the pace of organisational change and the support available to leaders during transition.

The next stage of the project is to gather a large-scale global sample of perspectives so that we can better understand how widely these experiences are shared across international schools.

We have therefore developed a short, anonymous, survey, which should take around 10–15 minutes to complete and will remain open for four weeks.

We would be very grateful if you could both complete the survey and share the link with colleagues who may also wish to contribute their perspective.
