Head – King’s College, Taunton
Somerset

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious educationalist to lead a flourishing school of 400 pupils, ages 13-18.
Independent, Co-educational, Boarding and Day Schools, pupils 3-18 years old
HMC and IAPS
Required for September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
The Head of King’s College also has an executive role as the line manager of the Head of King’s Prep School (ages 3-11, 275 pupils). There are currently five King’s College sites operating internationally in Doha (two schools), Riyadh (second site planned) and Gurugram (Delhi). The Head plays an important role in leading the strategy for the future development of the College’s international partner franchise schools as well as supporting the current King’s schools mentioned above.
The College and Prep schools currently have an excellent reputation for providing their pupils with an outstanding holistic education. Academic standards are high and it is the responsibility of the Head to ensure that this continues to be the case. Ensuring pastoral care of the highest standard is also of paramount importance. The co-curricular programme at both schools is impressively wide-ranging; the reputation of sport at King’s is currently strong.
The Head is a compelling ambassador for the King’s schools, at home and overseas. The schools have a long tradition of boarding. The Head will be expected to project a vision for how boarding will continue to remain strong in the future, whilst ensuring that the day provision remains highly attractive. The Head plays a leading role in the development of the schools’ commercial strategy and it is expected that they will continue to do so.
The King’s schools are part of the group of Woodard Incorporated Schools. As such, the Head is expected to uphold the schools’ Christian ethos and values. The community of the King’s schools is welcoming and warm. The Head is a leading and centrally important member of that community.
