Leadership Opportunity in South America

For Feb 2027

We are working with a large, very long-established school in South America to support the appointment of a new Principal.

The school is non-profit and operates over two campuses in a vibrant part of a major city. It offers the PYP, GCSE and IBDP and has a strong reputation in its country and beyond for its high academic standards, very active life beyond the classroom, and warm and inclusive community. An international student population integrates easily with the majority national student body.

This is a big, potentially once-in-a-lifetime, position for the right person. The successful candidate is likely already to be running a major school, or at least will have significant autonomy in overseeing a separate campus or a very large school section. The school’s Board is seeking a Principal who will be able to balance being an educational and organisational leader, providing the moral, cultural and strategic leadership that the school needs alongside thinking deeply about education. The role also requires externally-facing commitment, someone who will invest time and energy in building relationships beyond the school community.

There is a very significant opportunity to make a difference in this role. The school has a fine reputation and now is the time to make sure it can maintain its position and relevance at a time of change in the world and in education, and continue to be a pioneer in Latin America. The school is committed to reviewing its curriculum offer and an experienced leader should expect to be able to shape other areas of the school’s culture and its educational and non-academic life.

Experience of the IB Diploma, all-through education and a values-based school are all essential, as is the ability to be an inspirational leader and a mindset that can be both commercial and visionary and strategic. If the new Principal does not already speak Spanish, they will need to commit to learning the language as quickly as possible.
