At RSAcademics, we believe that strong governance makes international schools more effective, resilient and forward-looking.

Good governance supports clear decisions, strong leadership, and long-term success for students, staff and communities. On the other hand, poor governance can be a major risk for schools and is a challenge across the international sector.

We work with governing bodies in many different contexts, from well-established standalone schools to start-ups, large international school groups to small, community-based schools. We also work across different models of governance and ownership – non-profit, proprietorial, company or group. While every setting is unique, many of the challenges are shared. That’s why we focus on practical, adaptable ideas that help those involved in governance feel confident in their role and impact.

Introducing: International Governance Insights from RSAcademics

Governance Insights is our email newsletter for school governors/board members and school leaders. It is free and sent directly to your inbox three times a year and offers practical, timely guidance to help those involved in governance support their schools more effectively. There will also be content to guide heads/principals in how to work most effectively with governance.

Each edition includes:

  • Expert commentary on current topics in international school governance
  • Practical ideas and examples that can be applied in many settings
  • Content written with international schools and contexts in mind.
  • Links to resources – video and audio content and presentations – that schools can use as tools or to develop their governance thinking.

There is no platform to log into and no password to remember, just useful insight, delivered directly to your inbox.

Why RSAcademics?

At RSAcademics, we bring together practical experience in school leadership with a deep interest in how governance can truly support a school’s mission.

We do not promote a single model or approach. Instead, we focus on what works: clear structures, informed decision-making, and good relationships between governance and school leaders.

Our team includes former school heads, senior leaders, researchers and governance professionals. We listen carefully, think critically, and aim to offer support that is thoughtful, well-researched and directly useful.
