James Fowler
Senior Advisor

James joined RS Academics as a Senior Adviser after a significant career in educational leadership. After gaining a Theology degree and being a Choral Scholar at New College, Oxford, he initially worked in advertising agencies as an Account Manager before training as a teacher. Following his first teaching posts in Cardiff, he moved to Brentwood School as Head of Sixth Form and then to Highgate School as Principal Deputy Head. He became Head of The Aldenham Foundation in 2006 and saw it develop to include overseas schools as well as increasing its UK operation during his 16 years in the post.
He has inspected over 20 schools for ISI and accredited a number of HMC schools during his time as Vice Chair of the HMC Membership Committee. He also served as the HMC representative to the International Confederation of Principals. He has been a governor of several schools and is currently the Chair of Governors of St John’s School, Northwood.
He has been an active musician throughout his life and continues to enjoy singing and conducting both choral and operatic music.
