Founding Head of Primary – The Lisboan International School, Portugal

For August 2025

This Founding Head of Primary opportunity is one of huge potential and interest. The Lisboan is a new type of school in a stunningly-converted historic building in the heart of Lisbon. It is part of Artemis Education, a growing group that is setting out to transform the landscape of education by creating and operating innovative new schools. The Head of Primary will work closely with the Founding Principal as the two key educational leaders with responsibility for starting the school off in the best possible way.

The position requires a specialist who is passionate about the Early Years and Primary age range, excited by the opportunity to innovate and push past the constraints of most schools and their curricula, and committed to making a difference. The Founding Head of Primary will be responsible for establishing the traditions, values and ethos that will define the Primary School, and indeed the whole school, as a place where students and educators thrive. They will also align strongly with the distinguishing features of an Artemis school – a school that is deeply conscious of its social and environmental responsibilities and that works in constant partnership with its host community.

The Head of Primary must be committed to unlocking the potential in every child and creating an environment where there is a genuine love of learning and a sense of fun, where innovative thinking is encouraged and where students are empowered to explore their full potential in a safe, supportive and enriching environment. The successful candidate will be determined to reach the highest standards of learning and will understand what it takes to recruit, lead, empower and retain outstanding teachers who are inspired by the school’s approach.

Located in the heart of Lisbon, The Lisboan will open with 300 students and grow to be a school for 1,200 students from Nursery to Year 13, blending the best of British education, the IBDP and Artemis’s future-focused approach to education. In the Primary School, English national curriculum standards will be integrated into the bespoke and thematic Dimensions curriculum. This curriculum is designed to reflect the environment of each school and the Head of Primary will help to shape it to the context of Lisbon and the school’s demographic. The academic curriculum throughout the school will be supported by a rich experiential programme that will use the city itself as a classroom. The school aims to become a hub of educational excellence, contributing to the city’s rich cultural and intellectual landscape. The founding leadership will therefore help to shape the future of education in one of Europe’s most dynamic and vibrant capitals.

The Lisboan is dedicated to bringing a net-zero carbon education into the mainstream, reflecting a commitment to the future and a responsibility for the stewardship of the planet. Its core values – kindness, curiosity, connectedness resilience and integrity – will be underpinned by the distinctive BOA principles – Belong, Own, Act.

This is an outstanding opportunity in a highly attractive location and within a dynamic and values-driven group. Candidates should have strong senior leadership experience and be able to show evidence of their commitment to academic excellence and to building an inclusive, deeply supportive and values-driven Primary School community in which every child is known and encouraged to develop a love of learning in their own way. Specific curriculum experience is less important than experience of curriculum development, an openness to new pedagogical thinking and innovation, and the instincts for start-up.

The position will commence in August 2025.

Head of School and Middle & High School Principal (two roles) – ACS International School Doha

ACS Doha is highly distinctive in the landscape of schools in Qatar: an American International IB Continuum school on an outstanding new campus. The school has recently become part of Artemis Education and these two positions represent excellent opportunities to lead ACS Doha in a new phase of its development – sharpening the school’s identity, reinvigorating its offer, strengthening its reputation as a warm and inclusive community, and supporting it to become one of the leading schools in Qatar and a model for American international education globally.

ACS Doha is a pre-K-12 school, currently of 980 students, with scope for significant expansion in its new home.

The school’s new leadership will be instrumental in blending ACS Doha’s existing distinctiveness with the Artemis Promise and approach, which emphasise academic excellence, the development of the whole child, social and environmental responsibility, and a genuine community commitment. Artemis schools integrate their own context-specific curricula, while the Artemis Experience is a framework to ensure that the extracurricular programme and community engagement are a core part of the learning experience. Every Artemis school is deliberately shaped to reflect its local context and culture, supporting the concept of the community itself as a classroom.

ACS Doha’s impressive campus represents a move away from more traditional institutional layouts to an active, inclusive and practical home that can support innovative thinking and rigorous learning. The campus is a landmark in school design and is already making ACS Doha stand out in Qatar. Making full use of all the campus has to offer will be an important part of the school’s continuing transformation.

Perhaps, above all, there is an opportunity now to reinvigorate all aspects of ACS Doha, to make it a place where a love of learning, fun, challenge and high standards are all part of daily life, and to cultivate a strong sense of purpose. These two positions will lead the school community in creating a level of aspiration that can inspire continual improvement in teaching and learning, drive up attainment, and provide a platform for growth.

Both roles will suit ambitious and experienced leaders who are eager to work in an environment with huge potential and where they can make a significant difference. The successful candidates will need strong experience in US curriculum schools alongside good IB experience; it is likely that the Middle and High School Principal will have a particular interest in the MYP alongside solid experience of the DP.

The Head of School will be required for August 2025; an earlier start date may be possible to facilitate some overlap with the Interim Head. The Middle and High School Principal is for appointment as soon as possible.

Founding Principals – VIBGYOR World Academy, Nagpur and Bhopal

VIBGYOR Group of Schools, one of India’s leading K-12 school groups, is seeking Founding Principals for its first World Academy schools in Nagpur and Bhopal. VIBGYOR is highly-regarded for its innovative and forward-thinking approaches to curriculum and pedagogy and the VIBGYOR World Academy will be an important strategic development for the group.

Established in 2004, VIBGYOR has been a trend-setter in India, fostering academic excellence through a genuinely holistic education based on best practice from education systems worldwide. Its approach draws heavily on liberal arts traditions, with a strong focus on technology, student well-being and inclusion.

VIBGYOR has two established K-12 brands that encompass 36 schools: the all-Indian VIBGYYOR Roots and Rise schools, and the VIBGYOR Kids and High schools, which offer the option of a Cambridge pathway leading to IGCSEs and A-levels. The new World Academy will be premium international schools, with excellent academic facilities, integrated technology, high-level programmes in the arts and sports, and a focus on innovation. They will be Cambridge International Examinations schools from the primary years on. The Cambridge curricula will be delivered alongside VIBGYOR’s existing bespoke curriculum, tailored for a more international context and designed to prepare students for life. Students will have the opportunity to pursue higher education in India or explore international options.

The first two World Academy schools will open in the academic year 2025-26, initially with K-grade 5 and an anticipated initial intake of 230. Both schools are expected to expand by adding a grade each year, up to a capacity of 1,200-1,500. While they will open as Cambridge schools, VIBGYOR may consider other curriculum options as the schools evolve. Like other Principals in the group, the two international Principals will have a high level of autonomy in leading their own schools, supported by a well-resourced central infrastructure.

With the demand for international schools expected to grow dramatically in India, and numerous new schools being planned to meet this demand, the VIBGYOR World Academy offers something different: the chance to develop these new international schools within a well-established and well-resourced group, known for its quality and for innovation. For candidates, this offers the excitement of being part of the development of a new market but within a more secure context.

These positions will suit candidates who have the instincts for founding in a largely untested environment. This will require an adventurous spirit, combined with a deep understanding of and commitment to the fundamental elements of a high-quality international school serving a national audience. The successful candidates will combine vision with an eye for the detail of what makes a good school function well; they will be enthusiastic about the big picture, but have no hesitation engaging with the practical aspects of founding a school. They will be excited by the possibilities of India, possess a high degree of cultural curiosity and adaptability, and value being part of an established group. Experience of primary leadership within a whole school environment, and preferably of building beyond the primary level, will be a distinct advantage.

VIBGYOR is committed to offering competitive packages for these two positions. While the preference is for appointment in January 2025, a later start date may be considered for the right candidate.

Head – Harrow International School Hong Kong

Harrow Hong Kong is one of eleven AISL Harrow Schools in Asia, and the first international boarding and day school in Hong Kong. It opened its doors in September 2012 and now runs at capacity, with extensive waiting lists, at a combined roll of c.1650 pupils from Early Years to Sixth Form. There are plans to carefully grow to over 2,000 in the years ahead and a new satellite Early Years campus is due to open in August 2025. The School is defined by its holistic culture and values; it offers a caring, respectful community in which everybody thrives, while delivering truly world-class academic outcomes.

Located in a magnificent crescent-shaped building with custom-built facilities within the stunning Gold Coast area, the School integrates elements of the educational philosophy, practice and traditions of Harrow School in London within the diverse international community of Hong Kong to provide a highly distinctive education.

Harrow Hong Kong is an all-through school for pupils from Nursery (3 years) to Year 13 (18 years), educated within four phases: Early Years, Pre-prep, Prep and Senior Schools. Boarding begins from Year 6 in the Prep School on a weekly basis from Sunday evening to Friday evening. Just under 50% of pupils in the Upper School board, with all Day pupils also members of a House. There are currently four boys’ and three girls’ Prep Houses (Year 6 to Year 8), and four boys’ and four girls’ Senior Houses (Year 9 to Year 13).

The new Head will follow eight years of outstanding leadership from Ms. Ann Haydon MBE, and will be passionate about continuing the holistic, individualised pastoral care that is a hallmark of the School. They will benefit from strong reference points regarding premium education, and an unashamedly academic pedigree, continuing the delivery of world-class academic outcomes. International experience is not essential, but as the school is very high profile, an ambassadorial presence with gravitas (locally and globally) and a heightened cultural sensitivity are imperative.

Harrow Hong Kong is a dynamic school in a fast-moving environment, so there will be opportunities for a visionary Head to innovate with fresh eyes, and to re-envision ‘excellence’. Given the School’s success and profile, the new Head must ensure they take the community with them on the journey ahead. That journey is one of visionary evolution, rather than revolution. The Head will enjoy the support and fellowship of the AISL Harrow Group Heads, as well as benefiting from the strong partnership with Harrow UK.

The successful candidate will begin in role in August 2025. The position comes with a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package, including a generous salary, accommodation, private medical insurance, remission on school fees for dependents and flights allowance.
